VACANCY: CHIEF HUMAN CAPITAL OFFICER

Solomon Islands Ports Authority trading as Solomon Ports is inviting applications for the position of Chief Human Capital Officer.

The Chief Human Capital Officer heads the Corporate Services department and is responsible for ensuring that the Department provides advanced and efficient services in order that the Authority’s overall mission, functions, and objective are achieved. Specifically, to ensure the effective and efficient execution of corporate strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of SIPA. The CHCO is a member of the Executive Management which is responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, and development of the Authority.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage the strategic and operational functions of the Corporate Services Department.
  • Create and manage development strategy to encourage the growth of all employees, human resource goals and future needs of SIPA workforce.
  • Responsible for formulation and review of corporate plans, policies and guidelines to ensure that they support the achievement of SIPA’s overall strategic objectives.
  • Leading the recruitment and selection process of key positions.
  • Formulate and establish performance metrics and conduct regular performance reviews for SIPA employees
  • Develop and manage SIPA’s compensation structure and benefits packages ensuring that it is competitive
  • Function as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management to each business department regarding organizational and management issues
  • Work with SIPA’s executive management team to establish a sound succession plan that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of SIPA.
  • Ensuring that SIPA adheres to labor laws, regulations and best employment practices
  • Oversee the Enforcement and security services and ensure that they comply with International Port Standards and regulations
  • Oversee Occupational health and safety, and the wellness of SIPA staff through initiatives that promote staff engagement and retention.
  • Work closely with the CEO to solve employee concerns, grievances and promote a positive work environment.

 

Key Requirements/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related fields with 10 or more years of HR experience, including experience at the management level
  • Deep understanding of Business operations
  • Basic knowledge of Port operations and Port Facilities
  • Must be able to lead a team, build strong relationships and communicate across organisation.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
