ADVERTISEMENT OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (CEO) POSITION

The Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) is a State-Owned Enterprise established under the Ports Act (1956) and governed under the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) (2007) Act.   SIPA is mandated to provide essential port and stevedoring services at the two declared ports in Solomon Islands; Honiara and Noro at competitive pricing and excellent service delivery that supports the growth of Solomon Island’s economy.  

SIPA Board is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experience persons to fill the position of the Chief Executive Officer. 

 

KEY Responsibilities

  • The SIPA Board is seeking a transformational, highly respected professional with proven leadership skills and extensive experience in all critical function of leading a large, complex business.

 

  • Applicants are expected to have the appropriate qualifications in business, finance, economics, engineering, maritime sciences or in any related disciplines with higher degrees an advantage.

 

  • Plans, integrates and evaluates the work of all the Ports departments in a manner that anticipates and resolves ongoing business and operational issues and complies with all applicable regulations governing port use and security.

 

  • Leads the development and implementation of both long – and short – term strategic plans; provide clear direction to the organization, integrating and coordinating all departments to assure that Port achieves its vision and mission.

 

  • Oversees the development and implementation of strategic, fiscal and capital improvement plan.

 

  • Be accountable to the Board of Directors for his or her delegated authorities in exercising his or her powers.

 

  • Participates in industry and professional organizations on behalf of the Ports to stay abreast of maritime industry trends and issues both nationally and internationally.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Applicants must have strong, and sound demonstrated experience in international port operations and seaport management and have at least 5 years of executive experience in a similar sized port.

 

  • Applicants are expected to have a fair grounding on governance as required by the SI Ports Act and the SOE Act, best financial and business practices based on international and national accounting standards, Solomon Islands company law and various other relevant international and national laws.   

 

  • Expected to provide a strong leadership for a dynamic organisation with expanding businesses and growing market expectations for quality services and to develop and maintain a strong corporate and business relations with the government, business and the wider community.  

 

 

  • Develop a strong team throughout the organisation to support him or her to drive the organisation’s business plan to achieve the Authority’s commercial and community objectives and to achieve a reasonable return for its shareholders after investing for its current and future capital requirements.
