Port services

Freshwater

Solomon Islands Ports Authority provide freshwater for domestic and international ships. These are delivered by quadrants (see image below) stationed at each jetty or wharf. For international ships, especially - a standby water pressure pump is always at hand for assistance. If there are any difficulties for domestic jetties this pressure pump can also be requested.

Pilotage

Pilotage is important for maritime safety. Our local pilots are expert ship handlers who can maneuver ships through congested waters, such as harbors at Honiara and Noro port. They are responsible for completing the berthing or unberthing of the ships by co-ordinating the ships position with the tugs and shore linesman through radio communication. They are transported from shore to an inbound ship and from outbound ship back ashore by this high speed pilot boats.
